It also doubles up as a centrally located gateway to the cultural hotspot of the Kali Kumaon Region (of Manas Khand), equidistant to the region’s temple tourism locations.
The unique location of Khetala compelled us to reconceptualize and repurpose our ancestral home as Khetala Kumaon Homestay for debuting our native village Joshura on Uttarakhand State’s rural ecotourism/staycation map. Our underlying motivation is to use this Homestay as an authentic site for our guests to witness and experience the unique cultural heritage of our Pahadi communities in their native setting that happens to be our ancestral village.
The pride of the place and our USP is a minimally but tastefully restored and refurbished Heritage Home from the early 1970’s.
Khetala is centrally located at the trijunction of routes leading to Devidhura (28 kilometers), Shri Ritha Sahib (33 kilometers) and Lohaghat (26 kilometers), Champawat (37 kilometers) with the beautiful, sleepy hill towns of Khetikhan (14 kilometers) and Pati (Block headquarters, 9.5 kilometers away) being a mere 15-20 minutes of scenic rides away.
At Khetala you might want to hike along the Reserve Forest or even on the main road right down to the river and cool your heels in the stream. You might want to witness and soak in the slow and varied life, with the stark contrast of the hard labour and mental acuity involved in efficiently cultivating the mountainous terrain, compared to the apparently effortless bounties of Nature on offer.
