Heritage Home Rooms

The pride of the place and our USP is a minimally but tastefully restored and refurbished Heritage Home from the early 1970’s.

We have preserved the low wooden ceilings of the two rooms with the beams intact for an authentic experience of the nostalgic past. Similarly, the old windows of yesteryear are supplemented with larger windows to blend within the old architecture (walls) build of stone. However, the old wooden and mud-lined floors have been paved (cemented) but not tiled.

It has been equipped with very basic modern amenities (sanitary utilities in attached bathrooms) and creature comforts (wooden beds and furniture such as a working/study table, cupboard and sofa sets with coffee table) for each of the two rooms.

Both the rooms are equally proportioned and have their own airy and cozy, well-lit anterooms with wooden sofa chairs, coffee tables and writing desks with chairs. Both the anterooms overlook the shared private verandah with delightful views of the adjacent villages.

You may expect a Dak-Bungalow vibe during your stay in our Heritage House.

Kitchen

  • A Common Kitchen (strictly managed only by the caretaker), well-lit, ventilated and built with hygiene in mind, for the purpose of cooking and serving only home-cooked, strictly vegetarian food (by the caretaker family) from locally available (seasonal and marketed) produce. You may choose to eat outside depending on your travel needs of the day and hour. Please inform your plans in advance to the person in-charge beforehand. You will not be charged for those meals.
  • There is an Aquaguard installed in the kitchen for clean and safe drinking water.

Attractions & Limitations

  • There’s a privately restored (artfully rebuilt in the traditional style) traditional water harvesting structure (called Naula in the local terminology) that utilizes the natural spring waters erupting within the premises.

  • Adequate and dedicated parking spaces (open and under shade) for your private vehicles within the secure premises.

  • Broadband will be made available as soon as the fiber-optic cable (Bharat Net) reaches the Gram Paanchayat. Currently, it is NOT AVAILABLE.

  • For connectivity, we rely on patchy internet services of Jio and Airtel. This Stay is NOT recommended for those who plan to extend their productivity in the Work from Home/Always Mobile format in the staycation.

  • This property is meant for those who are willing to invest their precious time and fleeting attention spans to recharge their energy levels, reset their inner mind, rediscover their being and purpose, reflect on and appreciate the wonders of Nature and are ready to rediscover, revisit the ways of traditional living that our traditional communities developed in harmony with nature.

  • Family guests are especially welcome. Please read the Do’s and Don’ts for the conduct expected of you, your family, friends and wards.

  • Khetala Kumaon Homestay is a brownfield redevelopment with some greenfield shoots, built in a trying terrain with very limited available manpower, resource shortages and under very strict budgeting constraints. We would appreciate your genuine feedback from the stay and workable suggestions in order for us to organically improve/upgrade our facilities and services offered and enhance your overall experience as a house guest over the years within our limited means and purposes as befits a rural homestay.

  • This is NOT a Hostel, a Hotel or a Boutique Home stay.

“Some places are so good to stay in, you don’t want to generate a rush on them. The Hoteller lodge hotel in Zurich is one of them.”
