Strictly Speaking: Do’s and Don’ts at Khetala Kumaon/General Guidelines

  1. Demanding the preparation of or consuming any sort of intoxicants (or being under the influence of) such as liquor (or drugs), smoking and the preparation and consumption of meat products within the secure perimeter of the Homestay premises is strictly prohibited.
  2. This is NOT a pet friendly accommodation and therefore we DO NOT allow or indulge “pet-parents.”
  3. Any act of public indecency, any sort of wanton conduct, anti-social, anti-cultural and anti-normative behaviours (including loud conduct) are strictly prohibited. This is a private property located within a traditional society. Therefore, observe the norms.
  4. You are expected to maintain decorum. It is not a party place. It is a meditative, family-friendly private space. We respect privacy and silence (No Intrusive Vlogging/Camerawork is allowed in the property or advisable around the village community). Please enjoy the delights of Nature and Community with general decency and minimal interference within the Home Stay and with the larger village community.
  5. The nearest major hospital is at Lohaghat (30 kilometers, although first-aid and basic treatment will be available in Khetikhan and Pati) and therefore, you are advised to mind yourself and your family members (especially kids) against routine hazards at all times. Even routine slips and falls, scrapes and cuts can become traumatic for the want of immediate medical attention at odd-times and ruin your holiday mood.
  6. Wildlife (leopards and bears) has been cited from time to time in the Reserve Forest adjoining this habitation and therefore you are advised to be alert even within the securely bound periphery of the Stay. Langurs and Monkeys (Rhesus) have wreaked havoc in the hills, laying waste to the fruit trees and agricultural produce. You are advised not to indulge or interfere with the monkeys and langurs for your own safety. They have been found capable of destroying our windows, cement balustrades (hence the iron railings everywhere) and water pipes previously. They will attack in packs when provoked. Similarly, large and ferocious packs of feral wild boars regularly roam the fields and destroy the crops at night. You are therefore well advised to stay indoors after sundown for your own safety.
  7. We are a pro-blacklisting management. Those who are found to be in violation of civic ethics such as littering the village commons, forests, rivers and those posing as hazards to themselves or others will be blacklisted and disallowed any future bookings. If relations become unmanageable, we might even request you to cut short your stay with us.
